Spicy Pups
Feb. 4th, 2012 01:53 pmI was given a jar of jalapeno relish and I've been trying to come up with ways to use it; so today I experimented and I was very happy with the results.
Spicy Pups
1 cup of self rising corn meal
1/2 cup AP flour
tsp of salt
1/2 tsp of pepper
2 tbsps of spicy bloody mary mix
2 tbsps of jalapeno relish
2 cloves of finely minced garlic
some minced fresh rosemary
1/2 a small onion, minced
3/4 cup to 1 cup of buttermilk (or lacking that, mix 1 tbsp vinegar into 1 cup of milk and let it set on your counter for a bit)
I mixed all ingredients into a batter (not to thin) and then using a small scoop I fried them in a pot of oil set at med-hi.
They came out great!

Why UPS is Great and Terrible
Dec. 20th, 2011 09:28 pmSo my boss asks me to help him order a Kindle Fire for his girlfriend for Christmas. Easy enough, I set him up a amazon account and order the Fire for him, done and done.
Only, it never arrives. So I go to Amazon who tells me to contact the carrier, which is UPS. UPS tells me that they delivered the Kindle to my boss at his address, only the address they tell me they delivered to is not my boss address. I check my boss amazon account, his address is correct. UPS says I should contact amazon.
I contact amazon, and after some haggling they agree to send out the Kindle again, one day rush, replacement at no charge.
Again, the Kindle does not show up, again I call UPS.
See my boss lives on Canary Trail, UPS keeps delivering to Canary Lake, which is in his subdivision.
So he drives over there, and there are two amazon boxes on the porch of an unoccupied house.
So, in summation, UPS drivers can't read and they are morons. How can you deliver a second box when the first one is still sitting there on the porch to a house that no one clearly lives in?
On the plus side, my boss got the Kindle Fire he paid for....and a free one. Thanks to UPS.

Dec. 15th, 2011 01:57 pmMy boss' car not only locked him inside and would not let him out, the car alarm went off. He was out in the parking lot of our office. We threatened to call the cops on him for trying to steal his own car. He FINALLY got the car to unlock the doors XD I think it was the highlight of my month.

Actually this is harder than it looks. I have much love for the Greed vs Ed fight from the first anime and I have much love for the Roy vs Lust fight from Brotherhood.
Greed vs Ed was beautifully orchestraed, had a stunning soundtrack and was emotionally wrenching.
Roy vs Lust had bare-chested Roy being all hot and bad-assed and stuff.
Hmmm, hmmm. Do I go with a well choreographed and dramatic fight sequence or Roy being hot? Hmmm.
Ok I go with Greed vs Ed as my favorite fight!

Oct. 24th, 2011 08:48 amStolen truck in our parking lot...again. They are easy to tell, they usually have smashed up driving columns. We haven't had one in a while, but we usually average about 5 or 6 a year. Also anything metal around here not tied down is stolen. Our neighbors had their air conditioner torn off the side of the building. We've lost tons of stuff before we bought the big trailers, and they get broken into ad infinium (but no one wants tons of paper).
Should I blame the two metal recycling companies down the street from us? (why yes, I think I should) Not to mention the inordinate amount of flat tires we all get from the road leading down to them being littered with nails and bolts.
I hear tale that the actual neighborhoods down the street (we are a street that is half industrial/half residental where I work) are working to have the recyclers move away.
I have to say I hope they win.

Well I've actually already covered this on an earlier day, But, that said, here it is again.
I love the first anime, mainly it was my introduction into FMA. I did like the animation, there are key elements to it that made it wonderful, mainly the Roy/Ed subtext. I will always love the first anime.

Drawing on the manga, my favorite antagonist was Envy. Mostly because of his persistance and his own self-denial and all the things he wanted. He never compromised himself, not once, in his pursuit of his goal and though he took a coward's end, it was still his own end to take. He was a good foil because he seemed real, his wants seem justified, even if we didn't understand or believe in them.
In first anime the logical choice was of course, Dante. But there is something about her, more that I saw her goals as a woman's vanity, and that didn't sit as well with me. I wanted her to have a broader reason for why she wanted her domination.
So, in conclusion, my favorite is Manga!Envy.

I did indeed see it. I own the Japanese Box Set, the American Box Set and two other copies, one with a linticular cover. Why? I don't know, other than I'm one of those uber obsessed fan types that must own stuff. Yeah, that is probably it. I didn't really like the movie, not a lot to discuss about it. I did take things away from the movie that are inconsequential of actually having any like for the movie.
1. I love older Ed. Older Emo!Ed was beautiful. I really appreciated the character design.
2. Alfons Heiderick was made likable by FANDOM. Not by the movie. I grew to love Alfons from fanfiction. Also, I don't think he's Alter!Al, I think he was Alter!Winry.
3. The fact Pride was pretty much Fritz Lang was kinda cool.'
ETA: 4: Ok, I will give you that is did have Roy/Ed fanservice in the fact Roy was obviously pining away in Sibera, longing for Ed's return. But that was so OOC of Roy that I just don't... I don't know. I still didn't like it XD
The rest of the movie is a blur. But I do appreciate they made a feature length movie. The music was good. I despised Noa. I think that's about it.

I think this one will be box bound for a while. I don't need two medicom Eds wondering the house. SSoM!Ed does indeed look vastly different from the original Medicom!Ed. His hair, face and clothes are different. Mainly his jacket and coat look different. He comes with a vast assortment of hands that seem to be like the original. I don't see a watch, but he might have it on him under his jacket and since I haven't taken him out of the box, I don't see it. He was worth every stinking penny.

Everyone wants to be him, so he's envy, he wants everything, so he's gluttony, he's hot as sin, so he's lust, he takes pride in what he does, when he doesn't get his way beware his wrath and he has a lot of minons to do his bidding instead of doing it himself so he's sloth. See? He's a bargain.
