Day 2- What was the first episode you saw of the series? What were your thoughts then

The first episode I saw was the first episode. I think it revolutionized what an anime should be to me. I had been a dabbler before, never really putting a lot of brain power or effort into any one series. I had a few that I liked (in a take it or leave it fashion), and didn't seek any fandom participation at all. FMA changed all of that. It made me hungry for more, to find like minded individuals to express my thoughts about the series. FMA literally re-wrote my perception of what a fan should be.

Nice! I was not fortunate enough to catch FMA from the first episode, but the post-Nina angst gripped me hard enough that I still tuned in every week to watch. I miss the old Adult Swim.

Dr H was so distressed by my recounting of the plot of the Nina ep she refused to start watching. ;_; I'll get her one day.

I think that is the exact scenario that got me to get Dr. Bob TO watch the show (telling him about the Nina arc). XD

XD Helen is strange sometimes in not finding body horror lots of fun. Especially considering her immunity to medical squick?

I should do this meme! I was so gripped by the hilarious first five minutes of ep 1, with Al running around in the sand with Ed chasing him. The whole concept of the big suit of armour with a goofy little teenage boy in it was most of what hooked me in. Shame anime Al turned out to be such a yes-man, but then yay that then actually he was so brilliant in the manga.
