Ok, so I get up this morning because BLERG I have to go to work and I get dressed,
hakuyama is still asleep so I'm being very quiet and I go to take the dogs out. I have one dog, a German Sheperd named Miche and I have my 'step-child', a schnauzer I babysit often named Bella. Miche can go without leash, Bella cannot. So I take them out, its dark, its cold and its raining! Buckets and buckets! Miche runs out and down by the pond to do her business, thankfully Bella is on a retractable leash and it's long enough so I can stand under the porch overhang and let her run down to the pond with Miche.
Only Bella turns around and runs back, at top speed and stands on my feet, watching Miche intently. I think: 'It's the rain, she doesn't want to get wet'. Miche is doing her duty and watching us curiously.
Behind Miche, from the pond, comes a huge possum. [I call them possums,
sabre_kalavar will undoubtedly tell me there is an 'o' in front of that] and it walks calmy up the slope right between the pond and my German Sheperd. Right up next to my dog! Ok I freak out..I HATE possums! Nasty, evil, biting, hissing monstrosities that are no more than giant rats. They can be sick with rabies or any number of things.
Miche is still looking at me, I scream her name and the command 'COME', she is a good dog,she knows her commands and she runs to me, all excited, she never looks back, I don't think she even realized. Thank heavens. Me, in the dark cold moring, in the rain, rescuing my dog from a possum. Can you imagine?
Thank you very much God, it was a nice x-mas gift.
