Al was worried that maybe Ed wasn't, you know, growing up normally. After all he hadn't seemed to notice any of the pretty girls who mooned after him.

I misread this as "any of the pretty girls who mooned him," which would have been a whole new DIMENSION of oblivious for Ed.
