hakuyama has gone out shopping and forbidden me too come. And no one is on AOL, and no one is home, so this just figures. Me and the dog. Whoopie. So I guess I'll take the time to write a little something.
The crowd was thick. Nothing brought out the curiosity seekers like royalty. The ballroom of the Castlegate Grand was awash in merry makers there to celebrate the Steep Prince on his special day, that being his 50th birthday. It was really only an excuse to get drunk and be seen. At least that was what Aeris thought. He escaped his father's entourage twice only to be hauled back by Typhoon (under orders from the King), he'd scarcely seen Kamree more than ten minutes the whole night and he wasn't drunk yet.
All the fuss made him nervous. He cast about the ballroom again for his lover, for one of his regular drinking buddies, for anything, only to have another person shoved into his face and his hand squeezed and shaken like a terrier with a chew toy.
"Randall Hoff, Hoff, Hoff and Tabor, I was wondering if I might have a moment of your time…."
And on it went. All freaking night long. Aeris finally made a break for it when some large and drunken human woman in a bad dress and worse make up grabbed the king for a little kiss. Aeris smirked as he pushed his way through the crowd knowing his mother would be sorry she had missed it. He finally found Kamree, secreted in the back in the dark spaces, like a true shadling. Beside Kamree was one of his elder brothers. The growly one. Wildnight.
"Well, well, well..If it isn't the man of the moment" Wildnight sneered over a glass of wine, "And since when are we too good to have beer at these gatherings?"
"Don't blame me, your brother booked it" Aeris started, but then his arms where full of Kamree and he didn't care anymore.
"Are you having fun? I keep trying to get up there to see you but there are so many people, more than I expected..thank god the caterer has more sense than me, and have you seen all the presents?! We're going to need a truck to get them home and it will be a solid month of thank you notes!" Kamree's arms were around Aeris' neck, his body arched into Aeris' gently.
Wildnight was looking anywhere but at them. This too made Aeris smile.
"Yes I'm having a blast, thank you so much for planning it Kamree, I know the King is enjoying it too" Aeris gave him a kiss, pulling him into the shadows again, using Wildnight as their shield. The elder Shade elf didn't seem to mind, in fact he seemed somewhat relieved that they were no longer in his line of vision.
"'Night still gets all hinky when we kiss, I would have thought he'd gotten use to us by now" Aeris grinned, pushing Kamree against the wall.
"He says this is a phase" Kamree returned with his own smile, his teeth a splash of lightness in the dark, "He says I'll outgrow it".
"Does he?" Aeris tasted Kamree's neck briefly, "Well what about his own twin, Skydark? He dates men too, when's he going to outgrow it?" Aeris moved his lips up the side of Kamree's neck to his jaw.
"He insists that Skydark is just having a phase as well, he says that everyone goes through phases" Kamree wound his fingers in soft green curls.
"Oh really?" Aeris' voice dropped to a silky purr; "I wonder what his phases' name was?"
"Do you two really think I can't hear you?" Wildnight glowered.
Kamree and Aeris laughed.
The King, damn him, lingered to 4, that meant Aeris and Kamree didn't get home until almost 5. Exhausted but happy, they trailed the royal entourage into the penthouse. The King's suites were set up on the east wall while Aeris and Kamree shared the suites on the west. It was a nice arrangement. Bidding the King, Shellsea, Typhoon and two of the royal guard goodnight, Kamree and Aeris giggled their way back into their rooms, shutting the door firmly behind them.
"You know what I love best about these shindigs when I have to attend them?" Aeris grinned as he advanced on Kamree.
"Oh I know" Kamree said with a lift of his eyebrows.
"Cater waiters" they sighed together.
"They were really gorgeous this time" Aeris nodded, stopping short of pouncing and loosening his tie.
"I know, all tall, blonde and Aryan, it's like the Master Race catering company or something" Kamree agreed.
They got undressed together.

Hehe... I love Wildnight. He's such a loveable pig. Oh, and I shivered at little at the "Arms full of Kamree" comment. Heh. Ah, Kamree... ;-)
