Alphonse Elric, seated directly across, nodded graciously. He was listening politely. Edward Elric, seated next to his brother, looked like he didn’t believe a damn word Ling was saying. Amused, Ling took it one step farther.

“And of course, were we to have a comfort woman here-or man, if that is your preference –“ Drat, no reaction from Edward, other than a general TWITCH at the mention of “comfort” anything. “I should be sure to request they show us the Dance of the Emperor's Jewels.” He winked at the brothers and made a particularly lewd gesture he had picked up from a charming, violent gentleman in a bar. “THAT is a show that no red-blooded Xingian, or Amestrian, should miss out on.”

Alphonse Elric made an embarrassed sound, inclined his helmet away. Edward Elric did what Ling was coming to like best about the young man – he lunged forward, seized Ling by the collar, and starting howling things about various people’s sensitive ears. Naturally, of course, said outburst ultimately offended far more ears. Ling snickered heartily on the inside as his traveling companion’s ire had to hiccup, redirect itself at an exasperated conductor.

“No, I will NOT ‘calm down’! THIS bastard was the one being ‘inappropriate’; tell HIM to be quiet!”

“Brother-“

“And YES, we would be happy to change seats! Gladly!”

Ling was rather sad at that, but was vindicated moments later when the conductor confirmed that no, there really were no other available booths, and Would They Prefer Just to Disembark at the Next Stop? Steamed as Edward was, even he could recognize that this was simply not an option. He eased off and harrumphed mightily, ended the conversation with full body Disapproval. The conductor scurried away, and Ling waved at him as he went.

He was not surprised that Edward glowered at him for this, but really, he couldn’t say he minded. Edward Elric, simply stated, was the first person he had ever met who was willing to call bullshit, and it was downright intriguing.
